To see what liquids are soluble.

Equipment: What did you use?
Water(100ml), custard powder, gravy powder, cup, instant coffee, pipette, coffee granules.

Method: Explain what you did.
1. I will put the liquid in a cup.
2. Next I will use a pipettes and put 100 ml.
3. I will then stir the mixture around 8 times.
4. Then I will observe the cup.

Variables: What did you change? What did you keep the same? What are you measuring?
I will change the liquid each time.

Prediction: What do you think will happen? Explain why!
I predict that the instant coffee will be a solution because it will dissolve.

To investigate solubility

Equipment: What did you use?
Pipette, cup, spoon, coffee granules, instant coffee, gravy granules, custard powder, flour.

Method: Explain what you did.
First I put coffee granules into the cup. Then i poured 50 millilitres of water out of the pipette into the cup. Next I will use my spoon to stir in the coffee granules. The coffee granules then mixed into the water to make a mixture. There you have it and delicious solution.

Variables: What did you change? What did you keep the same? What are you measuring?
I changed the solid material. I kept everything else the same.

Prediction: What do you think will happen? Explain why!
I predict that the coffee granules will be solubable and the custard powder will make a suspension.

To investigate what solids are soluble.

Equipment: What did you use?
Pipette, flour, instant coffee, coffe granules, gravy granules, cup and water.

Method: Explain what you did.
I put the solids in cups.
Then added 25ml to each solid.
Then stirred up the mixtures ten times each.

Variables: What did you change? What did you keep the same? What are you measuring?
I’d change the solids. I would not change the amount of water and and how many stirs.

Prediction: What do you think will happen? Explain why!
Gravy granules will turn out into a solution of a yummy cup of gravy.

To see which solids are soluble

Equipment: What did you use?
Coffee granules, instant coffee, flour, gravy granules, custard powder plastic cup, pipette, water (50ml), plastic spoon,

Method: Explain what you did.
1. Put the solid into a plastic cup
2. Pour the water (50ml) into the cup with the solid
3. Mix the solid and the liquid together
4. Observe the mixture

Variables: What did you change? What did you keep the same? What are you measuring?
I will change the solid. I will keep the amount of water the same the amount of times I mix the mixture. I am measuring the solubility of a solid.

Prediction: What do you think will happen? Explain why!
I think the gravy granules will dissolve into the hot water because is a powder that dissolves and because it is made to dissolve into warm water.

To investigate if different solids are soluble or insoluble.

Equipment: What did you use?
1 pipette
1 plastic cup
1 plastic spoon
Gravy granules
Coffee powder
Flour
Water
Custard powder
Instant coffee

Method: Explain what you did.

1) Firstly, I will carefully place some solids into my plastic cup.
2) Secondly, I will add water to my solid (50ml) using a pipette.
3) Next, I will collect my spoon and gently stir the mixture 12 times.
4) After that, I will leave my mixture for about 3 minutes.
5) Then, I will observe my mixture and see if it is soluble or a suspension.
6) So, whatever has happened to the mixture, I will decide and write up in a chart.
7) Lastly, I will repeat steps 1 to 6.

Variables: What did you change? What did you keep the same? What are you measuring?

Every time I experiment I will change the solid I place in the plastic cup and add water to. I will always keep the amount of stirs, the amount of minutes I leave the mixture for and the amount of water I add. I will measure if a solid is a suspension or a solution when I add 50ml of water to it.

Prediction: What do you think will happen? Explain why!

I think that the coffee will dissolve but not very quickly because coffee is made for dissolving, whilst I think the instant coffee will dissolve as well but much quicker than the normal coffee because of the name, INSTANT coffee. I am not sure about any other solids.

To investigate soluble materials.

Equipment: What did you use?
Water (50ml),coffee granules, instant coffee, flour, clustered powder, gravy granules, a plastic cup and a pipet.

Method: Explain what you did.
1.Firstly I will place the solid in the cup.
2.Next I will por on 50ml of water.
3.Then I will mix the liquid and solid 10 times.
4.I will observe the changes.
5.I will recorded my results in a table.

Variables: What did you change? What did you keep the same? What are you measuring?
I will change the solid.
I will keep the amount of water and how many times I stirred the same.

Prediction: What do you think will happen? Explain why!
I think the gravy will dissolve because it’s made to dissolve in warm water.

To investigate what a solution is.

Equipment: What did you use?
Pipette, flour, cup, spoon, coffee granules, instant coffee, custard powder and water.

Method: Explain what you did.
I will put the solids in a cup.
I will then add the water to the solid.
I will then stir it 10 times.

Variables: What did you change? What did you keep the same? What are you measuring?
I will change the solid material.
I will keep the same, the amount of times I stir and the amount of water.

Prediction: What do you think will happen? Explain why!
I predict that the coffee granules will dissolve because they are made to make a drink of coffee.

To find out if different materials are soluble or not

Equipment: What did you use?
Gravy granules, coffee, custard powder, water, plastic cup, pipette, plastic spoon.

Method: Explain what you did.
1.First I will place the the solid into the plastic cup.
2.Next I will then add the water to the mixture.
3.Then I will mix the mixture 10 times.
4.Finally, I will observe the changes.

Variables: What did you change? What did you keep the same? What are you measuring?
I am going to change the solid material.
I am going to keep the amount of water and the spoon.

Prediction: What do you think will happen? Explain why!
I think that the flour will make a doughy texture like pizza dough because it cannot dissolve.

To find materials that are soluble.

Equipment: What did you use?
Custard powder, coffee granules, coffee, gravy granules, plastic cup, flour, plastic spoon, pipette, water 50ml

Method: Explain what you did.
1.Iam going to Put the material in the plastic cup.
2.Then I will pour 50ml of water in the cup.
3.Then mix the mixture with the plastic spoon 5 times.
4. I will see if any of the mixture has dissolve and leave it for 5 minutes.
5.Then I will observe the changes that has happened .

Variables: What did you change? What did you keep the same? What are you measuring?
I will change the materials but I will keep the amount of water the same and the same amount of stirs.

Prediction: What do you think will happen? Explain why!
I think the flour will not disolve because it will just turn into a doughy texture.

My aim for this experiment is to find out which materials are soluble or not.

Equipment: What did you use?
I am going to use coffee granules, custard powder, spoon, plastic cup, pipette, gravy granules.

Method:
First I am going to put the solid into the plastic cup.
Next I am going to put 50 millimetres into the solid.
Then I am going to to get my plastic spoon and mix my solution and observe wether is is soluble or a suspension.

Variables: I am looking at weather materiel so are soluble or not.and I am going to keep the amount of the water and the correct amount of stirs otherwise,it will not be a fair test.

Prediction: I think that the custard powder will be soluble because the powder is thin.
